Cancellation & Refund Policy

This policy explains our refund and cancellation terms for Underwriter services. We are committed to fair, transparent policies in compliance with applicable consumer protection laws.

1. Pricing Model Overview

1.1 Subscription Plans

Underwriter offers monthly subscription plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Agency). Each plan includes a set number of credits per month. Top-ups are available for additional credits.

  • Credits reset monthly on your billing date
  • Unused monthly credits do not roll over
  • Top-up credits never expire
  • All features are available based on your plan tier

1.2 Pay-As-You-Go Top-Ups

  • Purchase additional credits at any time
  • Top-up credits never expire — use them whenever you need
  • Top-up credits are used after your monthly plan credits
  • Minimum top-up amount: $5

2. Subscription Cancellation

2.1 How to Cancel

You may cancel your subscription at any time through:

  • Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • You will not be charged again
  • Unused monthly credits for the period are forfeited
  • Top-up credits remain in your account indefinitely
  • Your account and data are retained for 90 days

3. Refund Policy

3.1 Subscription Refunds

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly and are generally non-refundable once the billing period begins
  • Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis for exceptional circumstances
  • All refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the charge

3.2 Top-Up Refunds

  • Unused top-ups (zero credits spent) may be refunded within 30 days of purchase
  • Once any credits from a top-up have been used, it is non-refundable
  • The 10% platform fee on top-ups is non-refundable

3.3 Eligible Refund Scenarios

Refunds may be provided in the following situations:

  • Duplicate charge: Charged twice for the same billing cycle
  • Service unavailability: Service was down for 48+ consecutive hours due to our fault
  • Unauthorized charge: Charge made without your authorization (subject to verification)
  • Technical error: Critical features non-functional and unresolved within 7 days
  • Unused balance: Top-up with no credits used, requested within 30 days

3.4 Non-Refundable Items

  • Subscription fees after the 7-day refund window
  • Partially used top-up credits
  • Monthly plan credits (these reset each billing cycle)
  • Any fees if account was terminated due to Terms of Service violations

3.5 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund:

  1. Email support@underwriter.dev with subject "Refund Request"
  2. Include your account email and transaction/invoice ID
  3. Explain the reason for your request
  4. Attach any supporting documentation

We will respond within 5–7 business days.

4. Payment Processing

4.1 Payment Gateway

All payments are securely processed through Stripe in USD. We do not store complete payment information on our servers.

4.2 Refund Processing Time

  • Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days
  • Credit to your payment method may take an additional 5–7 business days depending on your bank
  • You will receive an email confirmation once the refund is processed

5. Billing Disputes

5.1 Before Opening a Dispute

If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, please contact us first at support@underwriter.dev before initiating a chargeback. Most billing issues can be resolved quickly.

5.2 Chargebacks

Unauthorized chargebacks may result in:

  • Immediate suspension of your account
  • Loss of access to all data and services
  • Recovery of chargeback fees where applicable

6. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory consumer rights under applicable local laws, including:

  • EU customers: Rights under the Distance Selling Directive
  • UK customers: Rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
  • US customers: Rights under state and federal consumer protection laws
